Mark here. Here’s what we have in store for this week…
WHAT I’M WRITING ABOUT
Victory Pause
As we push ourselves to achieve more, the emotional landscape accompanying reaching a goal can be a mix of exhilaration and emptiness. The high of accomplishing something significant can be intense—like standing atop a mountain. But just as quickly, that rush can fade, leaving a quiet sense of “what’s next.” This emotional swing is often overlooked but crucial for long-term growth.
It’s easy to rush into the next goal, driven by the desire to keep climbing. Yet, true integration of our success happens when we pause to reflect. Acknowledging what we’ve achieved allows us to fully internalize the victory and the journey that brought us to the present moment.
Here are two actionable steps to pause and celebrate:
Pause and Breathe: Take a moment to stop, breathe, and reflect on your journey. Use the S.T.A.R. method—Stop, Think, Appreciate, Reflect. This allows you to savor the moment.
Share the Success: Talk about your achievement with someone close to you. Sharing reinforces the emotional bond and deepens the sense of accomplishment.
Celebrating success, even briefly, prepares us to face the next challenge with renewed clarity and gratitude.
NEW EPISODE – THE MARK DIVINE SHOW
Brain Insight
Episode # 495
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a renowned neuroscientist, author, and public speaker, best known for her groundbreaking personal experience with stroke and her insights into brain function. After a severe hemorrhage in 1996, Dr. Jill lost the ability to walk, talk, and recall her life, spending eight years rebuilding her brain. This journey inspired her New York Times bestseller My Stroke of Insight (2008), which remains one of the top-selling stroke-related books on Amazon. Her TED talk in 2008, which went viral, garnered over 27.5 million views, propelling her to international fame and recognition as one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. Passionate about brain health, she founded the Jill Bolte Taylor BRAINS Foundation to promote brain education and neurological recovery. A vocal advocate for mental illness awareness, she also serves as the National Spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center and has been active with NAMI.
Podcast Highlights
In this insightful podcast, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor explores the differences between the brain’s right and left hemispheres and how they shape our reality. She explains how the right brain connects us to the present moment, fostering a sense of unity, while the left brain drives individual identity, language, and time perception. Dr. Jill also introduces her concept of “Whole Brain Living,” categorizing the brain into four distinct “characters” and sharing how balancing time between them can create a more harmonious life. We discussed the role of our ego and how it shapes self-identity and our experience of time.
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. – Marie Curie
PRACTICE OR HABIT TO TRY
Emotion Release: (A 7-Day Practice for Awareness and Freedom) This week, practice developing the habit of noticing, naming, and releasing your emotions. Start by becoming aware of how you feel throughout the day—whether it’s frustration, joy, anxiety, or sadness. Once you identify the emotion, name it to create awareness: “I’m feeling angry,” or “I’m feeling anxious.” David Hawkins, in his work on emotional release, teaches that simply acknowledging emotions without judgment allows them to dissolve naturally. After naming the emotion, focus on letting it go. Breathe deeply and allow the sensation to pass through you, like a wave. With daily practice, this habit helps you process emotions more freely and experience greater emotional freedom.
