Mark’s Daily Brief: How to keep focus

Theme: Remain front-sight focused on your mission during VUCA times.

Tip: Apply the “Eisenhower matrix” to make the best decisions — from a personal standpoint, evaluate each category on urgency and importance, prioritizing immediate action on things which check both urgent and important matters for improvement:

  1. Physical health (rate your current sleep, nutrition, & movement habits)
  2. Mental health (review time spent in meditation & silence)
  3. Relationships (be mindful of how you can help others around you)
  4. Finances (evaluate current spending & eliminate unnecessary costs)

From a professional standpoint, apply this matrix to your business and evaluate improvement for the following four categories:

  1. Cash flow
  2. Organizational alignment
  3. Cultural mindset
  4. Revenue opportunities

“Focus precedes success.” — Mark Divine

The saying, “Fail to plan and plan to fail” most accurately describes what happens when people get caught in a fear-based reaction loop … they are unable to take a step back and reassess the reality of the situation in order to make a plan to overcome the challenge and emerge stronger. Now, more than ever, it is important to holistically reassess your personal and professional endeavors to address what is and isn’t working in order to move towards positive, forward growth. The current pandemic is a great opportunity to take time to employ the above matrix and determine the best directive moving forward. Assess, plan, and focus. Hooyah, we got this! 👊
